In this trip to the source of the Three Rivers in southern Qinghai Province, we will explore the interconnected ideas of nature, history, culture and local customs of the Tibetan Plateau. Our hope is that you enter with a heart of learning, with the wonder of a child and the eyes of a student, to understand and feel the value and richness as we get to experience different cultural backgrounds, aesthetics, and natural environments so that we may return to our own cultural environments as better, fuller world citizens. This is a unique chance to get up close with nature and local tradition, so as to open your mind and rethink the relationship between people and nature.
Here are the Guiding Principles in Ecotourism that we will follow on this trip:
Safety first Principle
The purpose of outdoor travel is to get close to nature and protect yourself, not to take risks. We will experience wild and beautiful places but under the care of experienced guides.
Sustainability Principle
We do not provide items containing single-use plastic such as mineral water bottles, so visitors are encouraged to bring their own reuseable water bottles.
Community Principle
We support community development by providing only local hotels and guesthouses and food made from local ingredients grown right on the Tibetan Plateau.
Cultural Principle
We respect different customs and cultures, so we hope that participants can also maintain an inclusive and open heart. We come in as students and learners looking for new possibilities through traditional cultures.
